Program Description:

COURSE DETAILS: 

Second-year Arabic. Prerequisite: 2 semesters of Arabic or equivalent.

BU equivalent: LY211 and LY212

Completes the process of presenting the basic structures of modern formal Arabic, concentrating on weak verb forms, more complicated sentence formation, and more sophisticated expression in speech and writing. Vocabulary expansion and better root-pattern identification skills are also stressed.

The Rabat Arabic Language and Service Learning Program offers students an 8 credit intensive language study. Students will be studying Fus’ha (Modern Standard Arabic) at the Center for Cross Cultural Learning (CCCL), a private cultural institution founded and directed by Moroccan academics with many years of experience in cross-cultural education. This program will give students a unique immersion in the life and society of this fascinating language, city, country, and region.  All students are placed in Moroccan households in the medina, where they have their own room and take meals with their hosts.

All Project GO programs provide funding for:
  • Tuition/fees
  • Room and Board
  • Travel to/from study location
  • Books
  • Insurance
  • Visa

The following costs will not be included in Project GO Funding: personal spending money, personal travel, costs for obtaining a passport, medication, and expenses for dependents.

Please Note: Project GO participants planning to travel abroad MUST have a valid U.S. passport in their possession no later than 90 days before anticipated travel date. Many destinations require student visas, which take additional processing time. For further information, visit our FAQs.

How to Apply: ROTC students interested in participating in and receiving funding for this program must first submit an application for Project GO funding. Course registration instructions will be provided in the scholarship notifaction letter.
